Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie is paying tribute to his sister, Christina Downer, on her birthday almost a week after police announced they have arrested two people for her murder.
Fowlie shared an Instagram post of himself and Downer at a movie theater in front of a promotional photo-op for Tron: Ares, which he noted was a “video of what turned out to be our last moment together.” He also thanked “everyone who’s reached out” and addressed news that Downer’s boyfriend, Delorean Bijon Brandon, and Kaylee Nicole Markowski had been charged with her murder.
“It brings our family and her friends some relief to know that charges have been filed in connection with Christina’s death. Because this whole experience has been so endlessly depressing, today I want to spend a little time remembering how much fun I had with her and how lucky I am that she was my sister,” he wrote at the end of the post. “Happy birthday, Chris!”
The Los Angeles Police Department announced on Oct. 30 that Brandon and Markowski had been arrested exactly on Oct. 29. “On December 18, 2025, Christina Downer was reported missing after her ex-husband requested a welfare check when he had not heard from her for an extended period of time. Downer’s boyfriend, Delorean Brandon, claimed that she had moved out several months earlier, leaving behind all her belongings, including her vehicle and dog,” the LAPD said in a statement.
In their statement, police said, “Robbery-Homicide Division detectives assumed the investigation after Downer’s cellphone was discovered washed ashore on Santa Monica Beach. Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified Delorean Brandon and Kaylee Markowski as the individuals responsible for Downer’s murder, the disposal of her body, and the concealment of their involvement.”
Elswhere in Fowlie’s tribute, he described the events that led up to he and Downer’s night at the movies captured in his Instagram video.
“It truly was just an inconsequential night at the movies. I’ve always thought those little photo ops at the Grove were so puzzling. I’d see them and try to imagine a world where me and my friends would pose in front of one non-ironically. For some reason on this day, i decided to make @nletreize take one of me and Christina as we were leaving,” he wrote. I just wanted to be extra and make her laugh, and I love how you can see her giggling as she walks up. She’s wearing her slippers which i think is so cute. In this video i feel like you can feel how sweet her energy is.”
The SNL writer continued, “She was one of my favorite people to make laugh. You could argue my whole comedy career was actually born out of sitting at the dinner table as kids and acting dumb while our dad became increasingly irate at me. It was a sacrifice that was always worth it.”
On Dec. 22, 2025, Fowlie shared a social media post asking for help finding his missing sister, sharing a multiple of images of Downer. Months later, in April of this year, he announced that “the LAPD has informed our family that Christina is no longer alive, and the case has officially transitioned from a missing person to a homicide investigation.”
The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division will present the case to the L.A. Country District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration. The investigation is still ongoing.
