Peacock has gotten the All Her Fault band back together for another female-driven, novel-based mystery limited series, The Break-In. The streamer has greenlighted the project, written and executive produced by All Her Fault creator/executive producer Megan Gallagher and produced by Carnival Films, the company behind the hit Peacock limited series starring Sarah Snook.

The Break-In is adapted from the domestic mystery novel by Katherine Faulkner. In the aftermath of a devastating home invasion, Alice Rathbone refuses to accept that the tragic event was simply random. Desperate for answers, Alice starts pulling at threads and soon finds a trail of dark secrets that spiral closer to home than she could ever have imagined.

Carnival Films’ Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant executive produce alongside Christine Sacani and Faulkner. Carnival Films is part of Peacock sibling Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group, which is the studio on the series.

Released in November, All Her Fault, which Gallagher adapted from the novel by Andrea Marabe, became Peacock’s biggest original launch to date, amassing 45 million hours viewed in its first four weeks.

While All Her Fault was conceived as a limited series and told a complete story, solving the case of Marissa’s (Snook) missing son, its strong ratings triggered speculation that Peacock could extend it in the vein of other successful limited series that have spawned followup installments such as HBO’s True Detective, The White Lotus and Big Little Lies, Netflix’s Beef and Apple TV’s Presumed Innocent.

By April, chatter intensified that a second season of All Her Fault was being written. Work was indeed underway on what turned out not to be a new season or a sequel but a spiritual successor to All Her Fault, The Break-In.

“After the breakout success of All Her Fault, we knew we wanted to continue building on that creative momentum with Megan Gallagher and Carnival Films,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBC & Peacock “The Break-In is exactly the kind of sophisticated, character-driven mystery our audiences are responding to right now – stories that tap into the zeitgeist by exploring the tension between perception and reality. Katherine Faulkner’s story is a compelling, addictive ride and a great example of the premium storytelling we’re continuing to build at Peacock.”

The Oslo-based, American-born Gallagher created, wrote, and executive produced the Critics’ Choice and Golden Globe-nominated All Her Fault, which also stands as Sky’s highest-performing drama of 2025. Gallagher was writer and executive producer on BBC’s psychological crime thriller Wolf. Her upcoming projects include The Blame, an ITV drama starring Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth, on which she serves as lead writer and executive producer.

“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Megan Gallagher and working alongside Peacock again,” said Marchant, Co-Executive Chair, Carnival Films. “Katherine Faulkner has given us something genuinely propulsive to work with – a story that gets under your skin and doesn’t let go.”

London-based Faulkner previously worked as an investigative reporter and editor and was Head of News at The Times. She is the author of The Other Mothers and Greenwich Park.

The Break-In is a story about motherhood, privilege and guilt, the devastating consequences of lies and the dark secrets that can exist beneath the surface of even the most seemingly perfect lives,” Faulkner said. “I can’t wait to work with Megan Gallagher, Carnival Films and Peacock to bring these characters and their secrets to life, and to introduce The Break-In to a whole new audience.”
