Look, up in the sky! It’s a hamster. It’s an accordion. It’s “Weird Al” Yankovic! And just in time, too, because Batman and Superman need his help to save the fifth dimension from creeping normality in DC Comics’ new one-shot comic Batman/Superman/Weird Al: World’s Weirdest #1.

DC has released a new 40-page comic that finds the iconic parodist teaming up with the Justice League’s Big Two. The comic finds the fifth dimension — a plane of existence made entirely of imagination — being turned utterly ordinary by an unknown force. The imp Mr. Mxyzptlk seeks Batman and Superman to help his home realm, only to discover Earth is also afflicted with the dulling distemper! So, they must turn to the master of the mad, “Weird Al!”

The issue was written by comic great Mark Waid (Kingdom Come, Daredevil), who really nails Al’s voice, as seen in the preview spread below. (The spread also teases an appearance by classic Doom Patrol villain Mr. Nobody!) Dan Schoening (Ghostbusters) handled the art and main cover, as well as a foil variant cover that mimics Al’s classic sophomore album “Weird Al” Yankovic in 3-D. Artist Jerry Gaylord, Riley Rossmo, and Mark Spears also contributed variant covers, and you can see all the art below.

Batman/Superman/Weird Al: World’s Weirdest #1 is out now in stores, and is already sold out online at weirdal.com (with the promise of second pressings coming soon).

“Weird Al” is having a hell of a 2026. His massive “BIGGER & WEIRDER 2026 Tour” is still ongoing (get tickets here), he recently unearthed his long-lost Al’s Brain: A 3-D Journey Through the Human Brain short film and accompanying “The Brain Song” video, and he made his grand return to NPR’s Tiny Desk. He’s also giving the UHF score soundtrack its first-ever vinyl release, bringing the film to LA’s Greek Theatre for a live orchestra scoring on Halloween, and working on a Broadway jukebox musical called Dare to Be Stupid. With all the craziness going on everywhere, it sure is a great year to be weird.
