The Chats have announced a new album titled Half Cut, due out March 5th via Virgin Music Group. Ahead of its release, the Australian punk band has unveiled the lead single and video “Off It.”
“Off It” nestles itself between classic punk rock and power pop, mixing Cheap Trick precision and melodicism with Ramones-style snarky simplicity. Its brief runtime and petulant fun plus its infectious guitar riff is a treat.
Singer Eamon Sandwith said of the upcoming album, “Half Cut is a fun rock and roll record, but it’s maybe a little more open than stuff we’ve written in the past. I definitely hesitate to use the word ‘mature,’ but it’s a bit of a progression, I’d say.”
