Jason Statham is back in action as former government assassin Adam Clay in the buzzy trailer for The Beekeeper 2, which Amazon MGM Studios dropped on Thursday.
The short teaser features Clay going up against the Beekeepers, a clandestine human intelligence organization that is seeking to get control of the U.S. government and is willing to kill anyone in their way.
“You’re the only one who can stop them,” Statham is told in the teaser by Wallace Westwyld, a character played by Jeremy Irons who fits Clay out with a 1969 Dodge Super Bee car, complete with a machine gun to battle the pesky Beekeepers.
Clay even uses a flamethrower as he continues his vendetta against those who wronged him in the sequel after the first Beekeeper film had him on a revenge mission. Amazon MGM Studios tapped Timo Tjahjanto to direct Beekeeper 2 ahead a Jan. 15, 2027 theatrical release.
David Ayer helmed the 2024 original that surpassed $160 million at the global box office. Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jemma Redgrave are among the castmembers reprising their roles from the first film, while the sequel’s newcomers to the franchise include Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff and Adam Copeland.
Beekeeper 2 is based on a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer and Zak Penn that emerged from a story and characters created by Wimmer. Statham, Chris Long and Wimmer share the producer credits, with Ayer, Jonathan Glickman, Thom Zadra, Alexandra Loewy and Rachael Cole executive producing.
