At the dawn of each month, Consequence looks back on the last four weeks to highlight our favorite new albums and releases with Staff Picks. Dig into all of the best albums of September 2026 below.
Another month of new music is officially behind us. September delivered a stacked slate of releases spanning indie rock, pop, folk, and plenty in between. Familiar favorites returned alongside artists continuing to carve out their own space, leaving no shortage of interesting albums.
Beabadoobee once again impressed with the fuzzed-out Pylon, while Beck stretched out across the dusty, wandering Ride Lonesome. Carly Rae Jepsen kept the momentum going with the shimmering synth-pop of Day + Night, plus there was the sweeping country drama of Orville Peck’s Mule. Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts proved he’s still one of the best working songwriters with Second Song, Standing on the Corner when nutso mode with their latest, and that’s all just scratching the surface!
