Robert Pattinson is sounding off about Steven Soderbergh stepping up to help finish filming The Batman Part II.

Earlier this month, Soderbergh agreed to take the on-set directing reins for the DC Studios production in London after Matt Reeves had to step aside due to a personal family matter back in Los Angeles. Reeves remains involved in the production.

“I am so happy he’s come on to help Matt,” Pattinson told Games Radar during a recent interview while promoting the actor’s film Primetime. “It’s incredibly generous of him – and he’s doing it in the loveliest way. It’s completely selfless.”

Continued Pattinson: “I think Matt had put so much work into the script, and we’re almost done. So for someone to come in and say, ‘I just want to help Matt do it; I want to do it in conjunction with him and just get it to the edit.’ And to have someone who’s as talented as Steven doing it is great.”

Pattinson added the film is now back in production.

As previously reported, the plan is for Soderbergh to work in London, while Reeves operates out of Los Angeles. Reeves will also be hands-on during the movie’s post-production in L.A. The film is said to be about two-thirds done.

“I thought Matt Reeves’ work on The Batman was stunning; it was intentional, specific, and rigorously coherent,” Soderbergh said in a statement. “The goal here is to work with Matt and his team to generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with what’s already been shot so Matt can properly finish his film.”

Added Reeves on social media: “Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes.”

Pattinson is having a rather incredible year, having appeared in three successful films — The Drama, The Odyssey and Primetime, with Dune: Part Three still to come in December.

Pattinson stars in The Batman Part II as Bruce Wayne/Batman, with new additions to the franchise including Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan.
