Quinta Brunson is sharing an update on the Betty Boop film she is developing and starring in.
While appearing on Good Morning America, the Abbott Elementary creator and star teased that she is “creating a really incredible movie” and is still “in process right now,” so she couldn’t share many details.
“I think the story will be unlike anything anyone expects,” she said on the ABC morning show. “It’s not just about Betty herself but an era of animation.”
When GMA host Robin Roberts asked Brunson what it was about Betty Boop that made her want to make a film about her, she said, “It was the story about her creation, honestly. It’s just not that simple, and it shines a light on way more than you would ever think in America’s history. So it’s really cool.”
Brunson said she is working with Fleischer Studios, the company that owns the animated character Max Fleischer created. Brunson’s own Fifth Chance Productions is also producing the film.
