Olivia Rodrigo has given “expectations” a fresh twist with some help from Chappell Roan, marking the latter’s first-ever guest feature. Additionally, the new version arrives alongside a ’70s-inspired music video featuring both singers and guest starring David Byrne. Watch it below.

The remix was produced by their longtime collaborator Daniel Nigro, while the adjoining video was directed by Bardia Zeinali. The visual, which is fashioned as a fictional 1980s game show called “The Big Expectations Show,” features Roan and Rodrigo as competitors. The remix is now also available to purchase in limited-edition physical formats, including 7-inch vinyl, CDs, and cassettes.

Byrne has a prominent role in the video, playing the host, Johnny Johnson, of the fictional game show and doing his best Bob Barker impersonation with his distinct energy. Byrne gets off a few lines in the intro of the video before the music kicks in. He even lip-syncs along with some lines before the midway point when he does some more game-show hosting.

The collaboration follows Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival, which took place in Southern California this summer. Roan was among the performers at the women-led event, which raised $20 million for 10 nonprofit organizations supporting women and girls.

Rodrigo is currently on the road for “The Unraveled Tour,”which kicked off last month and has sold more than 1 million tickets worldwide. Meanwhile, Roan is gearing up for her two-day fundraiser in Los Angeles later this month, The Super Graphic Spectacular and The Super Graphic Block Party. Net proceeds from ticket sales will benefit her Midwest Princess Project, which supports trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities.

“expectations” originally appeared on Rodrigo’s third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 485,000 equivalent album units in its first week. The record also topped the charts in 17 countries, earning the biggest opening week for a solo artist in 2026. Listen to the remix below.
