Paramount+ released an update for the fifth and final season of Mayor of Kingstown.
The crime drama will return for its final run on Jan. 15, 2027. The show released a first look photo (above) and will have a shorter run than usual — only eight episodes instead of the usual 10.
Renner previously teased on Instagram, “No one is safe this season …. I mean Nobody!”
The official description: “This season, in the wake of Tracy’s murder and the vengeance visited upon Callahan by Mike (Jeremy Renner) and Kyle (Taylor Handley), FBI agent Russell Hardy (David Morse) arrives in Kingstown searching for the ‘fugitive’ Callahan. A true lawman, Agent Hardy threatens to unearth all of Mike’s sins and secrets, and disrupt Kingstown’s tenuous balance of power.”
The final season stars Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster and David Morse. Necar Zadegan Nichole Galicia, and Lennie James will also return.
Filming wrapped for the production on June 30 and Renner posted on Instagram thanking the cast and crew, and pointed out how the series helped him recover from his devastating 2023 snowplow accident. “Today we are filled with gratitude,” he wrote. “I am so very thankful for all of your support over the years—it has given my stride and purpose in my recovery and love in my heart. Thank you cast and crew for carrying me through when necessary.”
Mayor of Kingstown was co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon and is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions.
