Haywire played a pop-up show in New York City’s Times Square only to be shut down by the police just a mere one and a half songs into the set.
The Boston hardcore-punk band’s brief performance took place on Wednesday night, following a now-deleted last-minute social media post of a picture of Times Square with the latitude and longitude of the planned performance along with a time.
Haywire’s post read: “40.75919° N, 73.98509° W, next to the steps. Right here don’t crowd the spot until 8:55pm.”
The band was mid-performance of “Haywire,” the second song of their intended set, with the crowd whipped into an absolute frenzy, before members of the NYPD pushed through the crowd, seizing drumsticks and confiscating instruments and amps to the loud boos of the crowd.

It is unclear whether the band faces any charges. The show follows the band’s tradition of spontaneous pop-up shows in the areas they pass through.
Haywire recently announced an extensive 2027 world tour supporting their new album I DON’T WANNA SAY GOODBYE, which is out now. Get tickets here.
