The soon-to-be-taken-over by Paramount, Warner Bros, has a big tentpole they just dated: Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest for June 1, 2029.
Owen Harris directs off Oscar nominated scribe Beau Willimon’s screenplay.
No cast or production start info yet.
The movie reportedly centers on, you guessed it, Aegon I, the first Lord of the Seven Kingdoms who spawned the Targaryen dynasty — the royal family at the heart of the entire franchise. Aegon I the Conquerer founded and is the first king of the dynasty and united Westeros with his dragons Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes.
This would mark the first time Aegon I has been depicted on screen. The feature is an expansion of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire.
Watch on Deadline
Aside from the core HBO franchise, there are two spinoff series based on the George R.R. Martin fantasy novels: House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
