Siân Heder, whose CODA won the Oscar for best picture in 2022, has signed on to direct Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, Paramount Pictures’ adaptation of the best selling novel by Gabrielle Zevin.

Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey and Isaac Klausner will produce via their book-friendly Temple Hill banner.

Described as a modern love story that spans three decades against a video game industry backdrop, the story tells of two friends, Sam and Sadie, who meet as children and reunite as adults, finding stardom in the cutthroat industry.

Per the dust jacket, “Sam and Sadie are brilliant, successful, and rich, but these qualities won’t protect them from their own creative ambitions or the betrayals of their hearts.” The book “examines the multifarious nature of identity, disability, failure, the redemptive possibilities in play, and above all, our need to connect: to be loved and to love.”

The book, published by 2022, became a sensation and was named one of the best books of the year by publications such as New York Times, Time, Entertainment Weekly, Slate and GoodReads. According to Paramount, it has sold more than 2.8 million copies worldwide, including more than 1.5 million copies in North America alone. And it spent over 50 weeks on the New York Times best sellers list.

Mark Bomback wrote the script based off a draft penned by Zevin, who will act as an executive producer.

Heder was a writer and director who worked on such shows as Orange is the New Black, GLOW, and Little America. She made her feature directorial debut with Tallulah, a comedic drama that starred Elliot Page and Alison Janney. Then CODA, a feel-good coming-of-age story centered on a deaf family and their hearing child, became a sensation and cemented her as a talent to watch.

Debuting at the Sundance Film Festival, where it was the first film to win the festival’s all four major awards, the movie went on to win the Academy Award for best picture, best adapted screenplay (for Heder) and best supporting actor for Troy Kotsur. Heder also landed a best director nomination.

Heder is repped by CAA and Goodman, Genow. Zevin is repped by CAA and Sterling Lord Literistic.
