Chris Hemsworth has opened up about the 2022 movie Thor: Love And Thunder, sharing that he became “a parody” of himself.

The Australian actor gained global fame for his role as the Marvel superhero, starting with the 2011 film, Thor. He has since gone on to star in 10 Marvel films as the character, including in 2019’s mega hit Avengers: Endgame.

However, he has recently opened up about the success of Thor: Love And Thunder, which was released in 2022.

“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth said in a new interview with Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”

He continued, speaking about the other characters and actors involved in the film: “Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team. I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, ‘Oh, they got way cooler stuff. They’re having more fun. What’s my character doing?’

Starring Christian Bale, Natalie Portman and Russell Crowe among others, the film became the eighth-highest-grossing film of 2022, and the second highest-grossing film in the Thor franchise.

He went on to discuss the superhero’s signature look: “It was always about, ‘You’ve got the wig on. You’ve got the muscles. You’ve got the costume. Where’s the lighting?’ Yeah, I’m part of this big thing, but I’m probably pretty replaceable.”

It’s not the first time Hemsworth has spoken about Thor: Love And Thunder, which received mixed reviews from critics. Back in 2022, he told GQ: “I think we just had too much fun. It just became too silly.”

In a four-star review of the film, NME praised the movie’s “delicious blink-and-you’ll-miss-them details” and the performances of the cast.

The review of Crowe’s performance read: “Crowe’s gut-wobbling god is a comic delight, one of the best characters the Gladiator star has played in many a moon as he swans around his cosmic citadel surrounded by a bevy of female admirers.”

In other news, Hemsworth revealed that the public response to his predisposition to Alzheimer’s “pissed” him off.
