Charli XCX is set to join Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in Martin Scorsese’s What Happens At Night.

What Happens At Night is the follow-up to Scorsese’s 2023 film Killers Of The Flower Moon and follows a married American couple on their trip to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby. “As they struggle to claim their baby, they seem to know less about themselves,” reads the official logline.

According to Variety, Charli XCX will have a cameo role in the gothic psychological drama, though her representatives have denied the publication’s request for comment.

It’s the latest in a string of movie appearances for Charli XCX. She played a fictional version of herself in this year’s mockumentary The Moment and had a supporting role in the fantasy drama 100 Nights Of Hero. She also appeared in romantic drama Erupcja, Olivia Wilde’s I Want Your Sex and has been confirmed for heist thriller The Gallerist alongside Natalie Portman.

What Happens At Night will see Charli XCX reunite with Scorsese after the actor appeared on the cover for her latest album ‘Music, Fashion, Film’. “His knowledge of film is just encyclopedic – it’s crazy,” she said in a press release. “His mission in film restoration is very inspiring. I mean, he’s also Martin Scorsese. Do you know what I mean?”

Earlier this year, Charli XCX said her foray into acting was “inherently cringe” while discussing Erupcja. “It’s all cringe, I’m very aware of that. Also, I am very new to this and wanted to sit back and learn and only really throw suggestions into the ring when I felt very, very passionate about it, or like it was going to be additive in some conversational way,” she added.

In September, director M. Night Shyamalan praised Charli XCX as a “true artist” after seeing the opening night of her ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ tour. “And Charli is a cinephile, so we could chat forever,” he added.
