Indie veterans Broken Social Scene have announced Remember the Humans, a new album that’s set for release on May 8th via Arts & Crafts. Additionally, they’ve shared a music video for record’s lead single, “Not Around Anymore,” and detailed a North American tour with fellow Canadian rockers Metric and Stars.

Upon its arrival, Remember the Humans will mark the Toronto collective’s first full-length LP of new material since 2017’s Hug of Thunder. It also sees the return of producer David Newfeld, who was a behind the boards for both You Forgot It in People and Broken Social Scene, as well as contributions from Feist, Lisa Lobsinger, and Hannah Georgas, among others. Notably, both Newfeld and Broken Social Scene bandleader Kevin Drew lost their mothers during the recording of Remember the Humans

“Our moms would have wanted us to do this, and get it right after 20 years of not working together,” Drew said in a statement.

In addition to being the first preview of the new album, “Not Around Anymore” serves as the record’s opening track. It’s a mid-tempo, groovy indie jam with a melancholically nostalgic tone and some fun production. Watch the music video for the new song below.
