Five years into Angel Studios‘ launch, the Christian production company and distributor is implementing “The Angel Promise” content standards.
Co-founder and CCO Jeff Harmon explained that the initiative bans on-screen sex, nudity, the F-word and “misuse of God’s name,” in addition to expanding parental controls and allowing paid subscribers to choose which films and television shows make it to the platform.
“I think Hollywood generally kind of lives in a bubble,” Harmon told Fox News. “These are excellent craftsmen. They’re the best storytellers in the world. Hollywood has built the best storytelling infrastructure in the world.
“But at the same time, they’ve kind of drifted more and more away from the values-based audience that they used to serve. And with that, in our view, as brothers and as fathers, as a father, Hollywood hasn’t been giving me consistently what I need. Once in a while, you get a good one, but you have to sift through all these things to find your good movies and your good stories,” he added.

Harmon noted that Angel Studios is also letting “the audience have a veto right” through the Angel Guild, the platform’s purported 3 million-strong membership.
“Our goal was to set out and try to fix this problem of kind of stepping out of the Hollywood bubble and stepping into middle America’s shoes,” added Harmon.
Founded by Harmon, his brothers and their cousin in 2021, Angel Studios has released such faith-based films as Sound of Freedom (2023), The King of Kings (2025) and Animal Farm (2026).
