Fugazi Finally Release Steve Albini-Produced Version of In on the Kill Taker

A lost treasure for fans of Fugazi and Steve Albini is finally seeing the light of day, as the long-dormant band has released a scrapped version of 1993’s In on the Kill Taker that was recorded by the late producer.

As the story goes, Fugazi recorded the entire album with Albini at the Chicago Recording Company, but were unhappy with the results. The band then re-recorded the songs in its hometown of Washington, D.C., and co-produced the album with Ted Nicely.

Now, in tribute to Albini, who sadly died in 2024 at age 61, Fugazi are unearthing the “Albini Sessions” for charity. The proceeds will benefit the Letters Charity, which provides direct assistance to families facing urgent financial hardship, and was near and dear to Albini.

The sessions feature all of the tracks that Albini engineered and mixed in Chicago that Fugazi would later re-record for In on the Kill Taker. It is exclusively available as a digital-only release via Bandcamp for $10, with 100-percent of the proceeds benefitting the aforementioned Letters Charity.
