Today’s tour announcement comes on the heels of sparsely marketed pop-up shows by the indie pop songwriter. In early May, Bridgers brought her musical endeavors out of seclusion with a loosely promoted show at a mid-sized venue in Rosewell, New Mexico. She debuted new songs amid an alien and outer space theme atmosphere. She then proceeded to set off on run of scantily marketed shows at mid-size venues and theaters throughout May. The pop-up shows culminated in a performance at Madison Square Garden, on Thursday, June 4th, where tickets were sold for $1 to $20, and the proceeds benefited the Immigration Bond Freedom Fund.

Before the pop-up tour, Bridgers hadn’t performed solo for more than three years, last taking the stage to play her own tunes in May 2023, opening for Taylor Swift at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Bridgers’ stepback from the limelight wasn’t exactly a full retreat from music. She toured with her indie supergroup boygenius in 2023 and promoted their debut LP The Record before the project went on hiatus in October of that year. Grammy wins for The Record followed the next year. Also in 2024, Bridgers reunited with Conor Oberst at one of his Los Angeles shows to perform a couple songs.
