Sarah Catherine Hook may be best known for playing poor little rich girl Piper Ratliff in the most recent season of The White Lotus, but she’s hoping to get the chance to show off her singing chops in an upcoming, highly anticipated live-action adaptation for Disney.
Last month, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Hook is among the young actresses who tested for the role of Rapunzel in the live-action Tangled movie, as well as Freya Skye (Disney’s Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires), Teagan Croft (Titans) and Olivia-Mai Barrett (Invasion).
While promoting her appearance in the adaptation of Emily Henry’s People We Meet on Vacation at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday, Hook opened up about what it would mean to get to play a Disney princess.
“Oh my gosh, it would mean the whole wide world,” Hook told THR. “I mean, who doesn’t want to be a Disney princess? Yeah, I can’t speak on any of it. I have no clue what’s going to happen, but I’m so honored to be even in the conversation. So yeah, my fingers and toes are all crossed very hard.”
While Hook may have risen to prominence last year as the subject of Victoria Ratliff actress Parker Posey’s iconic, “Piper, no!” line, she has a background as a trained singer.
“I actually went to college for vocal performance in opera,” Hook explained. “Vocal performance opera was my major. I’ve just always been a singer and have taken care of my voice, trained it properly. And I think that it would just be such a dream come true to be able to use the gifts that were given to me. And I would just love that opportunity so much.”
Disney is eyeing to shoot Tangled in the U.K. beginning in June, although scheduling could change, depending on the casting.
As for Hook’s latest role in People We Meet on Vacation, the actress plays Sarah, the longtime off-and-on girlfriend of Tom Blyth’s leading man Alex, and said she’s “excited to be a part of the Emily Henry universe.
“I think that fans [of the book] are going to be so happy with this outcome,” Hook said. “I would be very shocked if not.” Her other credits include the Cruel Intentions television series, First Kill and American Crime Story.
