Welcome to Six-Pack Stories, a video interview series from Consequence and Lagunitas that has artists take a load off on the couch and make their way through a six-pack — of questions. In the inaugural episode, we catch up with Penelope Road backstage at Luck Reunion to chat about their viral covers, their looming debut album, and go-to drinking songs. Watch above or on YouTube.
Take a look at Penelope Road’s social media, and you’ll see an array of performance clips with the five piece band nearly on top of each other as they squeeze into a vertical frame. So, when Consequence and Lagunitas met up with the group backstage at Luck Reunion 2026 for Six-Pack Stories, finagling the up-and-comers onto a sofa meant for three (really two and a half) was a familiar challenge.
The Atlanta-based act have been steadily building their profile one funky show and one viral cover song at a time. Taking influence from musicians across genres like funk, indie, soul, and soft rock, Penelope Road’s sound is at once tender and jovial. That dichotomy is even more present in person, between jammy solos, sweetly sung melodies, and renditions of tunes like Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” that elicit a wave of excited cheers.
“That whole vibe of best friends being together, getting to write an album, drinking, going out — drinking Lagunitas! — having a great time, that’s the integrity of our band,” keyboardist and co-lead vocalist Charles Eastman says. “For us, that kind of feeling is always going to be baked into our music because that’s how we carry ourselves.”
Eastman, alongside his bandmates, explains this after their Luck Reunion set at Willie Nelson’s ranch. The crew brings their carefree energy to our inaugural episode of Six-Pack Stories, where they tell us about their origins, stumbling into virality, what surprising songs they still want to cover, and more. Plus, they share their Beer Buddy Bucketlist and go-to songs to soundtrack the function.
