Metallica’s Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett covered Rammstein’s “Sonne” during the band’s concert in Berlin on Saturday, May 30th.

The performance is just the latest in a long line of region-specific covers played by the two during their mid-concert “doodle” jams on Metallica’s ongoing “M72 World Tour.”

The crowd immediately joined in with Robert Trujillo, who showed a surprisingly commanding German singing voice. Even lacking drums and a fuller dual guitar sound, the song felt massive, a fact underscored by the fans’ outsized response to the song by their countrymen.
