Kim Gordon has announced her new album, PLAY ME, and released the lead single, “NOT TODAY.” Stream it below.
PLAY ME, Gordon’s third solo album, arrives March 13th via Matador. The 11-track set extends her collaboration with Los Angeles producer Justin Raisen (Yves Tumor, Charli XCX), and is described in a press release as “an interior record, one in which a heightened emotionality pulses through physical jams.”
“We wanted to do it really fast. It’s more focused, and maybe more confident,” Gordon said of the album in a statement. “I always kind of work off of rhythms, and I knew I wanted it to be even more beat-oriented than the last one. Justin really gets my voice and my lyrics and he understands how I work — that came forth even more on this record.”

“NOT TODAY” is the lead track for a reason. Its mellow flow and rippling drums are the backdrop for Gordon’s powerful moaning vocals, which sound different than what she typically releases. “I started singing in a way I hadn’t sung in a long time,” she explained. “This other voice came out.”
In the accompanying video, directed by Rodarte fashion label founders and filmmakers Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Gordon lets the music flow through her in a house while wearing a custom-made silk tulle dress. It’s simple, yet majestic. And it’s hard to pull your eyes away from it.
Gordon’s new music comes months after she reworked her track “BYE BYE” from her 2024 album, The Collective, into a protest song against President Donald Trump.
