Modern jammers Goose have announced their new album BIG MODERN!, the coming of which is heralded by irresistible lead single, “Good2B.” The album arrives June 12th via No Coincidence Records.
“Good2B” starts with toe-tapping drums and one of the funkiest basslines of the year. But the lyrics, co-written by guitarist Rick Mitarotonda and frequent collaborator Matt Campbell, introduce themes of desire and distraction, casting shadows over the sunny tune. “Off in the distance,” Mitarotonda sings, “Colorful fishes/ Blowing me kisses/ I reach but I miss it.”
“‘Good2B,’ and BIG MODERN! as a whole, deal with the occasional state of flow amidst absurdity,” Mitarotonda said in a statement. “It’s doing the electric slide down the grocery aisle between the Pop-Tarts and Frosted Flakes. Hyper-convenience, hyper-connected; lost in the digital sauce and feeling pretty good about it. All while we’re left with the nagging questions: How long can this feeling last? How long can all of it last?”
