“At the opening ceremony of this year’s 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema will be presented to legendary actor Dustin Hoffman, winner of two Academy Awards, five Golden Globes, four BAFTA Awards, and many other accolades,” KVIFF organizers said on Tuesday. “Besides honoring Dustin Hoffman with a Crystal Globe, the Karlovy Vary festival will also be showing his breakthrough film The Graduate, directed by Mike Nichols and based on the novel of the same name by Charles Webb. The film earned Nichols an Academy Award for best director, was nominated for Oscars in six other categories, and also took home five Golden Globes and five BAFTA Awards.”

At the closing ceremony, KVIFF will honor French star Binoche, “the winner of an Oscar, a César and four European Film Awards.” To honor her, the fest will also screen the films Certified Copy (2010), Three Colors: Blue (1993) and the recent documentary In-I in Motion (2025), which she directed.

A third Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema will be bestowed upon “world-renowned cinematographer Robert Richardson, winner of three Academy Awards and recipient of seven additional Oscar nominations,” the fest said on Tuesday. “While at the festival, Richardson will join director Jana Hojdová in presenting the documentary portrait Robert Richardson: The White Devil.”

Known for his close collaborations with such directors as Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino, he is “one of the most respected cinematographers of the past four decades and one of the few people alive to have received a best cinematography Oscar three times,” namely for JFK, The Aviator and Hugo, KVIFF highlighted. “Richardson’s work has helped lend a distinctive atmosphere to films starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx, and Margot Robbie.”

Unveiling its honor for Wright, KVIFF called him “one of the most versatile artists of his generation,” adding: “He is a recipient of Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe awards, as well as an Oscar nomination.” In his honor, the fest will screen the film Basquiat (1996), “which he personally introduced at the 32nd Karlovy Vary,” as part of this year’s program.
