Angel Du$t have announced their new album, Cold 2 the Touch, their debut on Run for Cover Records arriving February 13th.
The hardcore band also served up the title track, a two-plus-minute ripper with a Motörhead-esque gallop and a near 50/50 balance of snarl and melody from frontman Justice Tripp. It marks the third single from the LP following the previously released tracks “The Knife” and “The Beat.”
“The flow of energy is a big part of what we do,” Tripp said of the band’s genre-bending approach to hardcore via a press release. “Angel Du$t needs to incite movement — I’m not down with people chilling while we play, that’s offensive to me–so having a genuine hardcore influence without making hardcore is important to the band. Melody is another huge ingredient, so is the authentic influence of bluesy, chromatic rock and roll constructs. So punk, hardcore, rock and roll — they’re all just different flows of energy that we’re trying to use.”

Cold 2 The Touch follows the band’s 2023 album BRAND NEW SOUL and reunited Angel Du$t with producer/engineer Brian McTernan, who recorded much of their early material. It’s also the band’s first release with new members Nick Lewis and Jim Carroll, and the album features a few notable cameos from the hardcore/punk circuit including Frank Carter, Scott Vogel (Terror), Wes Eisold (American Nightmare, Cold Cave), Patrick Cozens (Restraining Order), and Taylor Young (Twitching Tongues, Deadbody).
Billed as the band’s “most flat-out ferocious work in some time,” Tripp was almost threatening in his summation of the 11-song, 26-minute offering.
“This is who I am,” said Tripp, “and I speak for the band too: These are people who are always going to be playing aggressive rock and roll. It’s happening whether you like it or not. I’m me, and if you get in my way I’m gonna crush you.”
Tripp and company will be bringing that energy to venues across the East Coast when they embark on their November tour with Ovlov and Narrow Head. Dates kick of November 7th in Durham, North Carolina, and run through November 19th in Norfolk, Virginia. Get tickets here.
