Sublime have announced Until the Sun Explodes, their first album in nearly three decades and first full-length with singer Jakob Nowell as frontman. It’s set for release on June 12th via Atlantic Records. The title track, which also serves as the lead single, is streaming below.

Expect to feel a bit of nostalgia when listening to the project, as it will be “rooted in the band’s classic sound while opening a new chapter,” per a press release. The LP will feature collaborators including Pennywise’s Fletcher Dragge, Bad Brains’ H.R., and G. Love.

“The last Sublime record that will ever be made is Self-Titled. There’s no replacing history, period,” said Nowell, son of late lead singer Bradley Nowell. “Until the Sun Explodes the album is an epilogue, and ‘Until the Sun Explodes’ the single is the epilogue to the epilogue. It is a tribute to the expansive works of Sublime, it is an acknowledgment for all that my father has done for me my entire life, and most importantly, it is a thank you. I love you dad, and I owe you my life.”

The title track for Until the Sun Explodes is just as emotional as Jakob makes it sound. It moves at a brisk pace as the young frontman sings to his father. It mixes melancholy with a feel-good vibe that sticks around long after it ends.

“This song is the title track of our new album, and it expresses the gratitude we all feel as well as our intent for the future of our band and the music we love,” said Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh in a statement.

Sublime have announced new tour dates in support of the upcoming album. Their itinerary includes a pair of shows at Red Rocks in April, one of which will feature a full performance of their self-titled album in celebration of its 30th anniversary, as well as a series of one-off festivals in Fort Worth, Portland, and Salt Lake City under the banner of the Sublime Me Gusta Festival. Get tickets to their upcoming shows here.
