Suns forward Dillon Brooks was arrested for DUI on Friday morning in Scottsdale.
According to TMZ, the Canadian forward was “respectful and cooperative” after being picked up around 2 a.m. until he was released around 80 minutes later.
Brooks, 30, fractured his hand in a win over the Magic on Feb. 21, an injury that’s expected to keep him sidelined four to six weeks.
It was a big blow to Phoenix, which enters Friday’s slate at 35-27 and in the seventh spot in the Western Conference.
Brooks is known for agitating opponents and is widely considered one of the most disliked players in the league.
However, he has also been an important piece on playoff contenders with the Grizzlies, Rockets and now the Suns.

“You see on the court, it might not be ‘professional’ because I talk a lot of s—,” Brooks told ESPN earlier this season. “I run my mouth. I’m yelling. I’m yelling to the crowd, blah, blah, blah. But that’s just in the game. That’s my persona.”
At the time of his injury, Brooks was in the midst of a career-best season, averaging a career-high 20.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
The Suns are 2-2 in his absence, falling to the Bulls on Thursday, 105-103.
A hard-nosed forward, Brooks gained notoriety around the NBA for his longtime feud with LeBron James.
