The holidays are over and talk shows are back on the air, which means the Heated Rivalry phenomenon is skating its way over to late night.
On the heels of news that Hudson Williams has booked a Jan. 7 spot on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for his first talk show appearance, Connie Storrie will also be making the trek to New York for a debut of his own. The 25-year-old, who caught fire thanks to a magnetic turn as Russian hockey star Ilya Rozanov on Jacob Tierney-created sensation, will appear on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday, Jan. 12.
Storrie’s chat with Seth Meyers will surely please the show’s rabid fandom, which has been growing by leaps and bounds since Heated Rivalry debuted on Nov. 28. By the season finale on Christmas Day, it had become a certified online phenomenon with legions of content creators taking to TikTok, X, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, YouTube and more to share reactions, responses and analyses.
As a result, Storrie and Williams experienced a steep rise stardom, which led to a slew of interviews, photo shoots and podcast appearances. The queer romance series, created for Crave by Letterkenny’s Jacob Tierney and based on the beloved romance book series by Rachel Reid, is set in a fictional hockey universe. The first season is inspired by the second installment of Reid’s series by focusing on the steamy and secret affair of arch rivals, Storrie’s Rozanov of the Boston Raiders and Williams’ Shane Hollander of the Montreal Metros.
All episodes are currently streaming in the U.S. on HBO Max. The duo’s late night appearances come close to the show’s Jan. 10 premiere on Sky in the U.K. and Ireland. As for Storrie, he’ll next be seen opposite Janelle James announcing SAG-AFTRA’s Actor Awards nominees on Wednesday morning. Expect more appearances to come, something Storrie seemed to be bracing himself for when The Hollywood Reporter caught up with him in late December.
“As an actor, I’ve always wanted to work at a really high scale. I think every actor does. If you want to be an actor, on some level, I think there’s something about wanting what you do to be seen and be exposed and reach people. I’ve wanted to be an actor since…my mom always says that since I could speak, I’ve always been like, ‘That’s me on the TV.’ I don’t know, I’ve always seen that for myself,” Storrie recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “For it to finally manifest, and to be reaching people in that way. … This is what I wanted, so can’t really be too shocked when it happens.”
As for Meyers, he’s all new this week with Karl-Anthony Towns and Shawn Levy on Tuesday, Jodie Foster and Simu Liu on Wednesday, and Idris Elba and Marisa Abela on Thursday.
