Bob Odenkirk has recreated some of The Room’s most famous moments in the trailer for a remake.

The Better Call Saul star will appear in The Room Returns, a charity redo of the cult 2003 bad film by Tommy Wiseau, where he portrays the director’s central character, Johnny.

The new version is directed by Brando Crawford, and was shot in 12 hours in front of green screen with largely no budget, while other stars include Pieces Of Her’s Bella Heathcote, The Haunting Of Hill House’s Kate Siegel and Mike Flanagan, and original The Room star Greg Sestero.

Proceeds from The Room Returns will go to amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, and Blue Collaborative, with a Los Angeles premiere taking place on Friday (June 26).

In the trailer, we see Odenkirk recreate the famous cry of, “Why Lisa, why!” and, “Oh, hi Mark” lines from the original film, and there is a glimpse of the other stars in character as well.

The Room is largely considered one of the worst films ever made, famed for its nonsensical storyline focusing on a banker discovering his fiancée’s affair with his best friend, and its bad acting among many other issues. However, it has gained a cult status over the years.

The making was documented in Sestero’s memoir The Disaster Artist, which was adapted into an acclaimed film starring James and Dave Franco.

Odenkirk is perhaps best known for playing lawyer Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and spin-off Better Call Saul, and recently revived the character in a video to celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday.

Meanwhile, earlier this year the star reflected on suffering a heart attack while filming the final season of Better Call Saul in 2021.

“I went down, and Rhea [Seehorn] and Patrick [Fabian] grabbed me and they were screaming, but [the crew members who noticed] thought they were laughing,” he recalled to The Times. “So there were delays in reacting because we were all so far apart from each other.

“I was gone. I turned grey. Eventually, the on-set medic showed up, and he didn’t know what to do. He’d never done CPR.”

He was subsequently treated in hospital without surgery, further sharing: “A lot of people get that wonderful reel of film of their life, or they have a person who says, ‘Do you want to go back?’ None of that for me. The first memory I have is leaving the hospital a week after I got there.”
