This week sees the official release of YORKE’s first single, GOODBYE GRAVITY, to radio stations nationwide. YORKE also release their first music video for the single today.
YORKE, who recently signed to Universal Music SA, officially started as band in August 2014, although it has been a work in progress since 2012. Fronted by Jordi van Dyk, winner of the Converse Get Out Of The Garage 2013 Competition, YORKE is Durban’s latest music export.
GOODBYE GRAVITY, a love song, comes from the band’s first EP, An Ocean Of Clouds, which is set for release later this year.
Shot in Durban and directed by Jared Hinde, the video captures the essence and youthfulness of love with accompanying visuals to compliment the lyrics. The video portrays a story about a guy who leaves a note for the lady he loves, not really sure or expectant that she would find it but he pursues her anyway.
YORKE chose GOODBYE GRAVITY as the first single from the new EP, because it is a song anyone who has ever loved someone, can relate to. The video is light-hearted and suspenseful – a love story set to inspire.
YORKE’s debut EP, An Ocean Of Clouds, is set for release later this year.
“We make music because it’s what we love. It’s what we were created for. It’s our passion. If we could write songs that give people hope, make them smile, be a part of the story of someone falling in love again, why wouldn’t we make music?”
