THE GRRRL Creates The Music Video For GOODLUCK’s Bounce Me Brother
GoodLuck recently released their music video for Bounce Me Brother, made by none other than The Grrrl. Using Max Fleischer’s old style hand drawn animation within the context of a stage, the video perfectly fits the old feel of the music of the track, which was also co-produced by Mr Sakitumi.
GoodLuck approached The Grrrl with some of Max Fleischer’s clips together with the song, and together they found a narrative amongst the clips of downloaded animation to express the mood of just bouncing to the beat. Seeing as The Grrrl likes to work with more than one medium, she then created the stage setting and projected the footage into it to portray the animations as theatrical, fun and entertaining whilst the stage fits the feel and mood of the song.
The video for Bounce Me Brother took a few days to complete. Mr Sakitumi took some of the clips through ‘Ableton Live’ whilst retiming and chopping it to the beat, and then The Grrrl mixed and effected the clips live to the music in VDMX. The final edit was done in ‘Premiere’.
“Once I had a timing set up for the stage animated in After Effects, I illustrated and cut this out of paper, set up the stage and projected the edit into it. As GoodLuck are currently in Europe, we sent ideas, approvals, etc all via the internet for a truly international feeling until we all smiled.”
