The 2019 NASCAR Awards will be held Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. ET at Nashville’s Music City Center. It was previously announced that Cassadee Pope will co-host the event with TV racing analyst Rutledge Wood.
Janson expressed his excitement to be performing as part of the inaugural awards show in a video message posted to Twitter. In his video, he also congratulated Kyle Busch on the 24-year-old’s recent championship win at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
The awards show closes a weeklong celebration of NASCAR festivities in Nashville. Dec. 3-5, Music City will host the event, which will be filled with fan interactions, music, race cars and driver appearances.
The news of Hunt dropping out of the event comes days after the singer was arrested after driving the wrong way down Nashville’s Ellington Parkway. An arrest warrant shows Hunt had a blood alcohol level of .173 and he was driving with two open containers in his car. Following his arrest on Nov. 21, the singer released an apology.
“I decided to drive myself home after drinking at a friend’s show in downtown Nashville,” Hunt tweeted. “It was a poor and selfish decision and I apologize to everyone who was unknowingly put at risk and let down by it. It won’t happen again.”
