Lady Antebellum Say New Song ‘Heart Break’ Correlates to Their Career
Lady Antebellum‘s upcoming album, Heart Break, comes following an extended break that Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood took before reuniting — and relocating, briefly, to Florida and Los Angeles — to create what they say might be their best project yet. The threesome, who endured quite a bit of time away from home to make the record, found that the sacrifice of being away from their loved ones was worth it in the end.
“I think we wanted to be really intentional about carving out time to make a record,” Haywood says. “We’ve had to do it when you’ve got a lot of other plates spinning in the past. We wanted to commit the time again …
“It felt like the early days: all of us in a house, cooking, hanging out, laughing, staying up late, working in the studio,” he continues. “We’ve been trying to be very intentional of getting back to that feeling of the way we felt in 2006 when we started. That was our goal, and hopefully our music was all born out of that experience.”
The idea for Heart Break, and the time away to create it, was conceived before Lady A took their hiatus, when they were reminiscing about their early, carefree days.
“We sat down one day, at one of our last shows, and we were all on the bus together. I said, ‘We can’t take this kind of time off and not really just blow everybody away,’” Kelley recounts. “We were thinking about how to get back to that spot, how we wrote and started with the first two records. It’s because we didn’t have any responsibilities … Dave had the idea, let’s get out of Nashville.”
