After parting ways with David Fizdale on Friday, the Knicks will employ their 13th head coach since the 1999-2000 season. They have the worst winning percentage in the NBA over the last 20 seasons. They currently own the second-worst record (4-18) in the league ahead of only the Warriors (4-19), a team that is coming off a run of three titles in the last five years.

Who could possibly lead this organization back to prominence? Who could put an extinguisher to this dumpster fire? Better yet, who actually wants to coach the Knicks?

MORE: Knicks’ top six candidates to replace Fizdale

We’ve got three words for you: Metta World Peace.

Yes, you read that correctly. The longtime NBA small forward believes he is ready to run the show at Madison Square Garden. Once he heard about Fizdale’s firing, World Peace fired off a few tweets that essentially served as his cover letter to Knicks owner James Dolan.

Street mentality. Straight shooter. Supportive. Not a rock eater — unless water is available.

Come on, Knicks fans. How are you not on board here?

Plus, World Peace played in 29 games for the Knicks during the 2013-14 season. He’s basically a New York legend.

This is the right person for the job. There is absolutely no way this won’t work.

(Narrator: There are MANY ways this won’t work.)
