Josh Wantie ended 2016 with a string of hits on radio, including a collaboration with The Kiffness, and kicks off 2017 collaborating with DJ SA5H on the hot new single ‘Get Over Yourself’ released through Gallo Record Company.
Josh Wantie’s smooth vocals and combined production work with SA5H’s future-bass flavoured sound, makes for one of this year’s hottest dance releases. Listen to ‘Get Over Yourself’ here –https://soundcloud.com/joshwantie/get-over-yourself-josh-wantie-x-sa5h
SA5H explains how the collaboration came about: “I had some rough ideas’ for a track and I’m not a very good vocalist so that track just collected dust until I came across the Josh’s PAPER CROWN EP on iTunes. I got in touch with him and rest is history. I still haven’t physically met Josh, but we have chatted a lot and I like the creative space from where Josh comes from.”
Josh Wantie gives light to the message behind the lyrics, saying “’Get Over Yourself’ is actually a track written to myself to act as a reminder to not take myself too seriously and just have a good time. It’s important to keep your ego in check – haha”.
Josh Wantie released his ‘Paper Crown’ debut EP through top independent label Gallo Record Company last year producing the hit singles ‘Go Under’ and ‘Fall Again’. ‘Go Under’ was also used in an online KIA ad campaign with World Champ skater, James Kelly – https://www.facebook.com/Kiamotorsworldwide/videos/10154369584722558. The video clip received an overwhelming response with over 10.8 Million views in just 2 weeks!
The physical ‘Paper Crown’ EP release included the single ‘Brightest Light’ feat FDVM as a bonus track. The single was recorded in France and has already had over 11 million streams across key digital platforms! Listen to the track here: https://soundcloud.com/fdvm/fdvm-feat-josh-wantie-brightest-light
SA5H has undoubtedly become a rising figure amongst the current generation of South African DJs with his studio output making its way onto record labels in Europe, Canada, Miami, New York, Amsterdam and even South Africa’s own imprints F! Records [div of Soul Candi], Flexual Records and his very own Rejekted Records.
Having made his transition into the commercially friendly radio space late last year when his debut single ‘Burn It Up’ went straight to #1 on both 5FM and YFM.
2017 will see more music, more collaborations and a possible EP out soon.
