The New Jersey Devils will begin their post-Thanksgiving stretch without the services of Jack Hughes, who is being considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury. He will also miss his rematch with Kaapo Kakko, as he will not play Saturday against the rival New York Rangers.

In New Jersey’s 6-4 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, Hughes injured himself blocking a shot but ultimately finished the game. However, he was not on the ice for practice on Friday.

Hughes did skate again on Saturday, but Kevin Rooney will take his place in the lineup, slotting in on the fourth line between Miles Wood and Jesper Bratt, as per NJ.com’s Chris Ryan.

In 24 games with New Jersey this season, the 2019 first-overall pick has four goals and 11 points, as well as a plus/minus rating of minus-8.
