23 The nominees for the 2026 Grammy Awards were announced on Friday morning, with the category of Best Metal Performance featuring Dream Theater, Ghost, Sleep Token, Spiritbox, and Turnstile. The category was introduced by Sharon, Kelly, and Jack Osbourne, with Sharon mentioning how honored Ozzy Osbourne was when he won a Grammy for his last album, Patient Number 9. The field in the Best Metal Performance features Dream Theater’s “Night Terror,” Ghost’s “Lachryma,” Sleep Token’s “Emergence,” Spiritbox’s “Soft Spine,” and Turnstile’s “Birds.” The inclusion of Turnstile is a bit surprising, only because they are not really a metal band, although, to be fair, the Grammys doesn’t have a hardcore category. Heavy music also got some love in the Best Rock Album category, where Deftones’ private music, Linkin Park’s From Zero, and Turnstile’s NEVER ENOUGH were nominated alongside albums from Haim and Yungblud.
