Polk County deputies were called to a Davenport neighborhood at about 3:28 a.m. after receiving reports that a man and woman were seen trying to break into multiple cars in the neighborhood, the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook.

When police attempted a traffic stop of the suspect’s white 2006 Cadillac CTS, the vehicle sped off, zipping through the neighborhood while trying to locate the exit.

Police did not follow the suspect since there was only one way in and out of the neighborhood.

Video released by the sheriff’s office shows the Cadillac speeding down a street past a deputy and a resident, who quickly jumped out of the street to avoid getting hit.

Eventually, the car turned around and sped down the same street before crashing into an unoccupied parked vehicle.

Deputies immediately pulled the two suspects out of the disabled Cadillac and called EMS to treat their injuries.

“Fleeing from a law enforcement traffic stop demonstrates very poor decision making, but to do it in a small, residential neighborhood at a high rate of speed is a terrible idea, and dangerous. It’s amazing and fortunate that nobody innocent was hurt or killed. They could have very easily crashed into a house,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.

“It should not come as a surprise that the driver has a tattoo on his neck that says, ‘All gas, no brakes,’” Judd added.

The driver was identified as 37-year-old Timothy Allen Hogue of Apopka, and the passenger was 31-year-old Rebecca Kozub, of Ocoee. Both were treated at the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

After receiving treatment, Hogue admitted to police that the burglaries were Kozub’s idea and that he tried to flee because he “just freaked out,” the sheriff said in a statement.

Hogue, whose mugshot shows off the massive tattoo across his neck, was arrested following his release from the hospital.

He has been charged with burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, felony petit theft, fleeing to elude, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting without violence.

As of Tuesday, Kozub remained hospitalized after suffering a fractured leg in the crash, and charges against her are pending.

Hogue has an extensive rap sheet of 31 felonies and 18 misdemeanors, while Kozub has 19 felonies and 20 misdemeanors.
