Well, there are probably two ways this is going. Either you’re the fantasy owner in the fantasy championship who owns Christian McCaffrey, or you’re playing against him and will be rooting super hard against the Panthers in Week 16. If somehow your fantasy league’s title game is happening without McCaffrey, shame on the McCaffrey owner. He’s of course at the top of our fantasy RB rankings for Week 16 and is likely to have a usual big game.

Now if you’re going up against McCaffrey, you can’t afford to whiff on your running back choices. Maybe you’re disappointed that you sat Joe Mixon in Week 15 against the Patriots, but somehow Cincinnati got him running room. This week against Miami, Mixon should follow up with another solid outing and, if you somehow weathered drafting him and made it this far, it’s time to trust him one final time.

The worry spot at running back this week is Todd Gurley. Against the 49ers, you can’t feel awesome about Gurley. The same worry exists for Devin Singletary against the Pats. Both are talented enough, involved in the passing game enough, and going to see enough touches that they’re still playable as RB2s, but it’s OK to be cautious.

If you have Josh Jacobs, keep an eye on him. Despite his activation for Week 15, he has a shoulder injury that could still lead to being held out down the stretch. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to handcuff him with DeAndre Washington if still possible. The same holds somewhat true for James Conner, who could turn into a shutdown candidate at some point as he plays through a shoulder injury. Dalvin Cook (chest/shoulder) is also “questionable” this week, and with Alexander Mattison (ankle) missing last week, it could be Mike Boone who gets to take advantage of a great matchup with the Packers.

The last thing you definitely need to be aware of is the probable return of Kerryon Johnson (knee) from IR. The matchup with the Broncos isn’t a great one, but if it looks like Johnson will see 12-15 touches, he’s worth grabbing and possibly using as your FLEX.

Reminder: As always, we expect to make plenty of changes to these rankings throughout the week, so check back for updates.
