In May AMP Events and Francois van Coke announced the rock spectacular of the year, Francois van Coke & Vriende. The 2-hour event will be held at Sun Arena, Time Square in Pretoria on 15th September 2018.

The powerful line-up included Jack Parow, Majozi, Fokofpolisiekar, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Early B, Arno Carstens, Laudo Liebenberg (AKING), Coenie de Villiers and Van Coke Kartel.

And now the ticket got even hotter…

Francois is excited to announce the inclusion of his long-time friend, Karen Zoid to the line-up.

The backbone of the show will be Francois van Coke with his band Die Gevaar performing his most popular songs.  During the show his various friends will join him on stage to perform the anthems they have created together, along with some of their best-known songs.

Seated tickets have been sold out and the standing tickets are flying, so fans are encouraged to get these tickets while they are still available. It is going to be a two-hour high-energy rock show and will be best experienced from the standing area. Come early, enjoy the beer garden and soak up the good vibes.

Pre-drinks: A Four-track Francois van Coke & Vriende EP is on the way

To warm up for this event, Francois van Coke will release a 4-track EP featuring collaborations with Jack Parow, Early B, Die Heuwels Fantasties and Laudo Liebenberg from AKING.

The Francois van Coke & Vriende EP was recorded at Red Bull Studios in Cape Town and will be released on 13th July 2018.

Francois has a special connection to each of the friends included in the program:

  1. Karen Zoid

Francois and Karen’s epic hit, Toe vind ek jou, jumpstarted his solo career in 2015. This video has over 5 350 000 views on YouTube since its release.

  1. Jack Parow

“I’ve known Parow before he was famous. I remember watching him perform in a small bar in Observatory (Cape Town). When I heard Die Vraagstuk (with Die Heuwels Fantasties) I knew he was going to be huge. We’ve been doing tunes together since his first album and when we perform together there is always a massive energy on stage,” says Francois.

  1. Majozi

“Majozi and I wrote a song together a while back. It was for an ad-campaign and unfortunately it was never released, but we became good friends through the process. I am excited to have him on the bill.”

  1. Fokofpolisiekar

Francois took up the role as lead singer when no one else in Fokofpolisiekar was keen. “I’ve been playing with my best friends for 15 years and it is a massive honour to still be a part of Fokof,” says Francois.

  1. Die Heuwels Fantasties (Pierre Greeff, Hunter Kennedy, Fred den Hartog, Sheldon Yoko)

These guys are tight!  Pierre Greeff (lead singer) is family of Francois and Hunter Kennedy is his Fokofpolisiekar band mate.  Fred den Hartog has produced some of Francois solo songs and Sheldon Yoko is part of his band, Die Gevaar.

  1. Laudo Liebenberg

Francois and Laudo have been friends for a long time and both are rectory kids. “He is one of the best songwriters in South Africa and he sounds fantastic in Afrikaans.  We’ve been writing songs together over many years.”

  1. Coenie de Villers

“I got to know Coenie when we recently recorded Johannes Kerkorrels’ classic Hillbrow for a kykNET TV special. He played the song with Johannes Kerkorrel back in the day. To pay tribute to JK in that way made the whole experience very special. We also recently recorded that version for Coenie’s latest album,” explains Francois about Coenie’s inclusion on the bill.

  1. Early B

Francois is a fan of Early B: “Early B is the coolest new cat in the Afrikaans Hip-Hop scene. We collaborated on a track for my upcoming FVC & Friends EP. I am very amped to play the song live for the first time,” says Francois.

  1. Arno Carstens

“I’ve been a fan of Arno since 1995 and Springbok Nude Girls is still one of my favourite bands. We’ve travelled, played and jolled together a lot now. Living legend,”

  1. Van Coke Kartel

Van Coke Kartel was disbanded in 2017, but is making a comeback especially for this event.

“Francois van Coke & Vriende” is proudly presented by AMP Events in association with Jacaranda FM & KykNET.
