Poor Things star Emma Stone will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress at this year’s Palm Springs International Film Fest.
The film awards will take place on Jan. 4, 2024, with the festival running through Jan. 15.
Stone previously received the festival’s Vanguard Award in 2016 alongside La La Land costar Ryan Gosling and director Damien Chazelle. Previous recipients of the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress include last year’s winner Cate Blanchett as well as Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock, Jessica Chastain, Olivia Colman, Marion Cotillard, Viola Davis, Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron and Renée Zellweger.
“Emma Stone continues to exert influence as one of the most important actresses of this generation, whose performances are always exceptional no matter the role. In her latest film Poor Things, Emma delivers a burning intensity and character bound for liberation,” festival chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi said in a statement. “There is no one better suited for this role, and it is our honor to present the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress, to Emma Stone.”
Earlier this week, the festival announced it would be honoring Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon with this year’s Vanguard Award. More honors are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
Yorgos Lanthimos directs Poor Things, which also stars Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe. It will hit theaters on Dec. 8.
