Priya Chaudhry is bolstering her boutique firm by bringing on entertainment lawyer Jeffrey Movit as head of litigation, creating a one-stop shop for high-stakes criminal and civil matters on both coasts.
Chaudhry, a well-known criminal lawyer who’s leading the defense for Creed III star Jonathan Majors on misdemeanor assault and harassment charges in connection with a March arrest, is one of THR‘s Power Lawyers: Troubleshooters and has also represented director Paul Haggis and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City‘s Jen Shah.
Meanwhile Movit has been highlighted by Billboard as one of the best lawyers in the music business and has worked with the likes of Dua Lipa, Katy Perry and Playboi Carti, as well as UMG. He joins from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp where he was part of the team that recently secured a settlement for Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald in his yearslong dispute with Kesha.
“Adding Jeff makes ChaudhryLaw a royal flush. Jeff has been a trusted brilliant colleague, frequent collaborator, and wonderful friend for many years. His tangible passion, impressive strategic thinking, and relentless pursuit of the best outcomes for his clients are unmatched,” said Chaudhry in a statement to THR. “Our partnership will allow us to expertly navigate entertainment law and criminal defense complexities. Together, we can deliver exceptional results to clients by offering a comprehensive approach to their legal challenges.”
Added Movit, “Joining ChaudhryLaw will allow us to provide clients unparalleled service. My deep understanding of the entertainment industry and ChaudhryLaw’s formidable criminal defense track record creates a single destination for clients facing various legal issues.”
