A biopic on late AC/DC singer Bon Scott is currently in the works via Australian production companies Halo Films and Protocol Pictures. Young actor Lee Tiger Halley has been cast as the rock icon in the movie, titled The Kid From Harvest Road.

Per Halo Films’ website, the movie “promises to be a poignant portrayal of the man behind the legend,” adding, “His path from a cherished yet troubled youth to a prodigious artist is a tale interwoven with the threads of magic and passion.” Production on the film is expected to begin in early 2025.

Like Scott, Lee Tiger Halley hails from the Australian city of Fremantle. He stars in the new Netflix limited series Boy Swallows Universe, based on Trent Dalton’s novel of the same name. He also has a lead role in the Australian comedy series Crazy Fun Park, which is available to stream on Hulu.

The film is being helmed by writer Stephen Belowsky and co-writer/director David Vincent Smith, with Belowsky stating, “I was truly inspired by his charismatic character, but what interested me most was his early, life not the caricature we all know on stage. The teen who walked the streets of Fremantle… this is a love letter to Fremantle and Bon reimagined through the eyes of the author.”

Ian Hale of Halo Films added, “We are thrilled to embark on this journey to illuminate the early years of Bon Scott. His story is one of resilience, passion, and the relentless pursuit of his dreams. Through this film, we aim to honour his legacy and inspire audiences with the transformative power of music and determination.”

Bon Scott died on February 19th, 1980, at the young age of 33. He and AC/DC had just been coming off the success of 1979’s Highway to Hell, and were gearing up to record a follow-up album. Brian Johnson was tapped to replace Scott just weeks after the latter’s death, and went on to record the mega-selling Back in Black that spring.

Meanwhile, AC/DC, featuring classic members Johnson and Angus Young, recently announced their first tour in eight years. Tickets to the UK/European outing are available at this location.
