Billie Eilish has released her long-awaited sophomore album, Happier Than Ever.

The album follows the July singleNDA.”  It is her second LP after the multiple Grammy-winning, platinum-certified record WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? Other singles released since the artist’s debut are also included in the album, including “Your Power” and “Lost Cause.”

In addition to releasing the new album, the artist also included a video for the record’s melancholy title track, “Happier Than Ever.” In an Instagram post, Eilish called it her “favorite song and video ever.”

During an interview with Vevo, Eilish said she intends for the record to be “timeless.”

“I wanted to make a very timeless record that wasn’t just timeless in terms of what other people thought but really just timeless for myself,” the artist says. ”I gathered a lot of inspiration from older artists I grew up loving, mostly Julie London and a lot of Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee. It’s a big goal of [mine] to make things feel like the same project but not like the same song over and over again. The main thing I would hope for is people to hear what I say and go, ‘Oh, God, I feel like that. I didn’t know I felt like that, but this is how I feel.’ And maybe make a change in their life that makes them happier.”

FINNEAS, Eilish’s brother and longtime co-collaborator, also worked on the new record. In an interview with Herald Sun, he spoke on the pair’s intention to make Happier Than Ever an anti-pandemic album.

“Billie’s album, and my album, they won’t be a bummer COVID record,” the producer says. “I have a desperate desire not to release them during COVID-19. It’s the vaccine record! I want it to be the album everyone’s out dancing in the streets to.”

The artist said she “experienced so much self-realization and self-reflection” and praised her brother’s production in an Instagram post.

Happier Than Ever my sophomore album is finally out,” the artist wrote. “i can’t even process it. this was the most fulfilling most satisfying and profound experience i’ve ever had with my music. finneas and i were just on cloud 9 making this album i feel. i love every song on this project so so much it literally scares me thinking about putting it out into the world for anyone to listen to.

“i feel like crying. i grew so much in the process of making this album and experienced so much self realization and self reflection. i wish i could go back and make this album all over again because it was some of the best nights in my life.”

She continues, “i love you @finneas thank you for being you. i couldn’t ask for a better brother and collaborator, you are my whole world and i couldn’t do any of this without you. anyway i’m so excited and nervous and blaaah… please take care of this project, it means the world to me. I CANT BELIEVE ITTTT”

To celebrate the release of the new album, the artist partnered with Disney+ to do a concert livestream alongside renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. The trailer shows her calling the new album a “self-reflection on growth” and the concert a “love letter to Los Angeles.”

But the Los Angeles show isn’t the only one Eilish is playing. She had to cut her 2020 WHERE DO WE GO tour short by 20 dates due to COVID-19, but her Happier Than Ever run is rapidly selling out. You can get tickets on the artist’s website and find tour dates below.
