Bill Murray kicked off a new US tour on January 3rd with a pair of dates at Chicago’s Thalia Hall, where he performed a variety of covers like Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone,” The Kinks’ “Tired of Waiting,” and more.
Backed by Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia and their band (billed as Murray’s “Blood Brothers”), Murray also covered Wilson Pikett’s “Midnight Hour” and donned a Chicago Blackhawks jersey for a rendition of Paul Butterfield Blues Band’s “Born in Chicago.” Watch fan-captured footage of the covers below.
Murray and His Blood Brothers will continue their tour sporadically throughout the year, with shows to come in San Francisco, Atlanta, New York, Austin, Des Moines, and St. Louis; the run ends with a concert at the Louisville Palace in Louisville, Kentucky on October 4th. The actor, comedian, and karaoke star is no stranger to live performances or leading a band. In 2022, he surprised New York City park-goers with an impromptu four-song set, which included a rendition of West Side Story’s “I Feel Pretty.” The performance arrived in celebration of his concert film collaboration with cellist Jan Vogler titled New Worlds: The Cradle Of Civilization, where Murray sang and recited poetry in front of the Acropolis in Athens.
