Today sees the official release of the first single from BASSON LAUBSCHER & THE VIOLENT FREE PEACE’s debut EP, set for release next week. The single, entitled RAMBLIN MAN, displays the raw and emotional foot stomping blues this collective is known for.
“Well, I’ve got to go baby, I gotta get out of here. I’m a ramblin man, you know. I gotta move my bones.”
RAMBLIN MAN was written one afternoon after Basson watched Cadillac Records and the song displays the lifestyle of a blues man – always on the go with the internal continuous need to wander. The song’s recording was done live in one take over the span of one afternoon.
Produced by legendary engineer, Jurgen Von Wechmar at Sunset Recording Studios in Stellenbosch, Basson feels the song comes down to a good boogie rock song which sets the right introduction to what The Violent Free Peace does as a collective.
“The song, like the EP, features loud-in-your-face big guitars with a groove, and I would say that that is our style. It’s also a great indicator of what fans can expect and experience during our live shows – a little taste of what we love to do.”
