ASLEEP IN TRANSIT have just released their KALEIDOSCOPE DOCUMENTARY. The documentary EPK follows the band from their first EP launch back in March 2012, to May 2013, and features the writing and recording of the band’s latest EP ‘Kaleidoscope’.
Allister Christie came up with the idea of a documentary because the band wanted to show a side of them that people don’t get to see – the songwriting process, touring and recording, and to better introduce the band to people.
“It’s about the band, making music, and sharing it with people.”
Fans will get to see the band in a very intimate light behind-the-scenes; hanging out, throwing snowballs, and working on music deep in the snowy drifts of the KZN Drakensberg. It was shot all over SA – from Knysna to Johannesburg, but focuses on the writing and recording of Kaleidoscope in the KZN Drakensberg, and in Durban at various locations. It basically runs from the start of the band, to where they are right now.
“You will also be able to see us recording the new EP, and all the in-between of touring, sleeping, and shenanigans you can shake a stick at. We are extremely excited to be sharing this documentary with everyone, and can’t wait for you all to watch it!”
ASLEEP IN TRANSIT in The Top 10 of Converse Get Out Of The Garage 2013
AIT also recently made it into the Top 10 finalists in Converse’s Get Out Of The Garage 2013 competition. The competition, now in its second year of running, offers the winning band a chance to record at a studio in New York City, as well play at the renowned 100 Club in London. They decided to enter the competition because it is a great opportunity for them to take Asleep in Transit to a wider audience, and to get the experience of recording in New York should they win. Converse is a great brand that really fits with them as a band, and that supports South African talent, and they are stoked to be associated with them in this competition.
“All of the bands in the running are great, and all deserve support regardless of this competition. We want people to vote for us if they think we deserve it, or if they just plain like us the best! We can’t speak for the other bands, but if we win, we promise to make the best gosh darn music you ever did hear. Winning would certainly be amazing.”
