And now for an event of a different kind!
Reefsteamers Open Day 2015, Germiston
Come and join in some mid-winter steam train fun at our Steam Locomotive Depot!
Reefsteamers will be opening the over-100 year old Germiston Steam Locomotive Depot to the Public for a Coal and Crafts-themed Open Day. We will be running two shuttle trains (steam hauled of course!) either way between Park Station and our Depot in Germiston. You can even access Park Station from the nearby Gautrain station.
The steam train will pick you up at Park Station at 9H30 and 11H00, and will return you there 13H30 and 15H00. You can choose to travel on whichever train you like, so you can control how long you wish your day out to be.
The depot will close at 17H00.
We will have lots to see and enjoy in terms of crafts and hobbies, including the model railway scene and samples of small scale steam engineering, as well as the workshops and the railway equipment itself. Bring some spending money with you as many craft items will be for sale, as well as railway memorabilia and media items, not to mention things to eat and drink. (Not all the stores will have credit card facilities) There will be good food and drinks available, as well as craft beer. Live entertainment will be provided by aKing and Taylor.
