New Video: We Are Charlie “New Camera”

We Are Charlie have released their brand new single ‘New Camera’ along with the music video for the track, launching it via campus radio across SA. ‘New Camera’ received its first play on radio when TUKS FM (Pretoria), PUK FM (Potchefstroom), Kovsie FM (Bloemfontein), MFM (Stellenbosch) and Radio DUT (Durban) all debuted the single on Tuesday 12 September at 5:30pm.

The video was filmed during We Are Charlie’s live performance at Lush Festival in Clarens this year and filmed & edited by Lourens Smit. A brilliant move by the band who showcase their energetic live performance through this video and how they have garnered the vast fanbase they have since first forming almost four years ago.

The trio have already delivered three major hit singles in the past year with ‘Let’s Stare At The Sun’, ‘Red Norton’, and ‘Starting to Stop’ all dominating local and indie charts across SA. ‘New Camera’ is another bold release with the band having set a benchmark of releasing hit after hit after hit.

They also approached the writing and recording of ‘New Camera’ in a different way and frontman Dylan Christie explains why: “We tried to keep this song minimalist, in terms of the instrumental work, so that we’d have a better bed to rest the vocals on and have more space defining the melodies. Lyrically we wanted to keep the song focused on our frustrations. This song had to have a call out feel whilst not being too obvious about it. We wanted this song to be beat driven, not only on the drums, but also have dancier rhythms on the bass and guitar as if they were drums as well.”
